MY FIRST VALENTINE

PRITI

My first Valentine's day!
For years I have been fantasizing the kind of V-day I would have once I get a valentine. It was more like…’main ye karungi…main wo karungi’ hehehe I looked at the cute little things at greeting card shops and wonder when my turn would come to actually buy those! Yesterday was my 1st Valentines day with Vaibhav. Initially just the thought of finally being able to celebrate this day was so exciting I couldn’t make up my mind what all to do! I finally decided on buying the cute little stuff for him that I craved to buy all these years and make a grand feast for him. I bought all the ingredients needed for making a carrot cake (that being Vaibhav’s favourite), 3 V-day greeting cards, a little smiling doggy (a soft toy – dogs being his most loved animal) holding a BIG heart, and a chocolate long stemmed rose (the stem & leaves were of plastic but the rose was made of milk chocolate and wrapped in red foil..it looked beautiful!)…I was sooooooooo happy that it was very difficult to control all the excitement.

I just couldn’t sleep the night before V-day, I woke up thrice just to check if its morning yet! Finally when my alarm went off at 5 am just as usual I slipped out of the house without making any noise and opened his car and made the doggy sit on his steering wheel and kept one card just below it. Then I baked a heart shaped chocolate chip cookie and made a red coloured curry (remember its V-day!) for his lunch…packed in another card there. After he woke up I proposed him with the chocolate rose to be my valentine he loved the rose, he wanted to eat it right then! HeheheI baked the cake and decked it up with rich cream cheese icing and made some design with red coloured icing (remember its V-day!). I kept the 3rd greeting in our mailbox, he checks it before coming home. Vaibhav got me a BIG red rose, a really big and beautiful one and a gift which really surprised me (sorry cant tell what gift it was its kinda secret), my husband is one true romantic soul! For dinner I made Tomato and Basil soup (using basil from our aerogarden) and served it with garlic & butter flavoured croutons. For main course I made Ratatouille Lasagna. We had recently seen the animated movie ‘Ratatouille’ that we both had loved…Ratatouille is a traditional French dish made with summer vegetables, herbs & garlic. Lasagna is an Italian baked dish with layers of pasta, veggies, sauces (red and white) and cheese. I combined the two and made it from scratch…even made the pasta and sauces at home. It was so much fun!We had this grand meal with our all time favourite Coke Zero. Vaibhav loved the cake, soup and lasagna…he loved the lasagna the most! After being showered with lots of compliments on my cooking, I was on cloud 9 and to tell u the truth, I still am! Hahahahaha what a day!
